Student

Birmingham

Planning approved for new 30 storey 540 bed managed student accommodation in the heart of Birmingham City.

Situated on Gough Street, Suffolk Street Queensway, within the vibrant landscape of Birmingham City, the site boasts a strategic location in the Ladywood Ward, mere steps away from the bustling city centre on its southwest axis. It enjoys proximity to key transportation hubs, notably Birmingham's New Street rail station, rendering it easily accessible to commuters. Adjacent to the site's eastern periphery lies the locally listed Grade B Christadelphian Hall, while to the northwest stands the revered Grade II-listed Birmingham Hebrew Congregation (Singers Hill Synagogue), adding to the area's rich historical tapestry.

In the pursuit of harmonising with the architectural heritage of the city and contributing to its urban fabric, the proposal emphasises integration within the historic city block while also aiming to make a distinct mark on the broader Birmingham skyline. Central to this vision is a meticulous selection of building materials, chosen to resonate with the surrounding context while ensuring sustainability and longevity. In this vein, the design concept embraces a contemporary aesthetic, leveraging a combination of red brick and glass to craft a structure that not only pays homage to Birmingham's storied past but also embodies its forward-looking ethos, thus forging a cohesive identity within the urban landscape.
