The original planning approval was gained by Henry J Lyons architects. As delivery architects, we also entered into a planning exercise to redesign the building to meet the requirements of the Clayton Hotel brand.

The site is located on the corner of Charlemont Mall and Charlemont Street and forms part of a vista which terminates at the canal. This new development has been designed to integrate into and reflect the environment of the surrounding area. This prominent building creates a superb 4-star hotel that responds sensitively to the historic context.

The scheme weaves between a number of Georgian Protected Structures, most notably 37 Charlemont Street and delivers a pleasing composition that breathes new life into the historic buildings of Charlemont Street.

The design combines contemporary architecture with superior craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail. The elevations are finished in a combination of handmade brick, floor-to-ceiling glazing and vertical fins to the rear of the property that maintain privacy for the nearby residential buildings.
